History of the Two Step
The nightclub two step, sometimes known as the disco or Californian two step, originated in the 1960s by Buddy Schwimmer. It was often considered the slow dance for couples during that era. It is danced to ballads seen during that era such as the hit song “Lady in Red.”
About the Dance
The Nightclub Two Step is a slow smooth dance. It is similar to international rumba in step patterns, but oftentimes you will see a “drift” similar to bolero.
